Terms of Service
Effective Date: September 9, 2026 Version: 1.0
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of StoryGen (storygen.xyz), a personalized Italian graded-reader pilot operated by Eyal Lapid, sole operator, Israel (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By using StoryGen, you agree to these Terms.
1. Agreement to Terms
By using StoryGen, you confirm that:
- you are old enough to lawfully agree to these Terms in your jurisdiction, and in any case not under 16;
- you have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms;
- you will use StoryGen only in accordance with these Terms and applicable law.
If you do not agree, do not use StoryGen.
2. The Pilot
StoryGen is a pilot: a time-limited product used to test demand for personalized Italian graded readers. We may change, pause, extend, or discontinue the pilot, its features, or the service entirely, at any time and with or without notice, though we will try to give notice where reasonably possible.
Browsing the landing page, the vocabulary quiz, and the three free (A1/A2/B1) editions requires no account. Generating a personalized story requires signing in.
3. Accounts
You sign in with a one-time magic link sent to your email, or with your Google account. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in method and email account secure, and for notifying us if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
You may delete your account at any time from the /account page. Account deletion is handled according to the Privacy Policy.
4. Pricing
StoryGen is free during the pilot; nothing is charged. After the pilot, the intended price is €9 per story. If and when paid stories launch, additional payment terms will apply and will be presented to you before you are charged. Nothing in these Terms obligates you to pay for anything during the pilot.
5. Acceptable Use
You may not:
- use StoryGen for unlawful purposes;
- disrupt, overload, probe, or attack the service;
- use bots, scripts, scraping, or automated account creation without our permission;
- submit a word list or quiz answers on behalf of, or containing personal information about, someone else without their consent;
- attempt to circumvent the rate limits or other access controls that keep the pilot’s generation budget available to everyone;
- reverse engineer or attempt to extract the underlying prompts, models, or system behind story generation;
- impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity;
- transmit malware or harmful code;
- harass, threaten, or abuse other users or us.
We may limit, suspend, or terminate your access when needed to protect StoryGen, other users, or legal rights.
6. AI-Generated Content and Its Limits
Your story is written by large language models operated by our sub-processors, Anthropic and OpenAI, using the word list or quiz answers you submit as part of the prompt. This means:
- the story is AI-generated, not written or reviewed by a human editor before you read it;
- it may contain factual errors, awkward phrasing, or, occasionally, content that does not perfectly match the vocabulary level or word list you requested;
- generation is not guaranteed to succeed — a request may fail or fall back to a different result, in which case we will tell you rather than silently substituting something else;
- the story is for personal language-learning and entertainment use, not professional, medical, legal, educational-certification, or other advice, and should not be relied on as a source of factual information.
You are responsible for how you use and interpret any generated story.
7. Intellectual Property
Your word list or quiz answers are yours. Submitting them to StoryGen does not transfer ownership to us; we use them only to generate your story and as described in the Privacy Policy.
Your generated story is licensed to you for personal use. We (and, in turn, our AI sub-processors under their own terms) retain underlying rights in the service, its software, design, and branding, but you may read, save, and share your own generated story for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not resell, sublicense, or use a generated story to train a competing AI model.
StoryGen itself — its software, design, page presentation, text, and branding — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by applicable law. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from StoryGen except as allowed by law or with our written permission.
8. Availability and Termination
StoryGen is provided as-is and as-available, as befits a pilot. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, a specific generation time, or that the pilot will continue beyond its planned window.
You may stop using StoryGen or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, create risk for the service or other users, or if required to do so by law. At the end of the pilot, we may close the service to new stories, delete pilot accounts, or both, consistent with the Privacy Policy’s retention terms.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply, including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages; loss of data; loss of a generated story; or service interruption, including where caused by our AI sub-processors.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable law, including consumer-protection rights that may apply in your jurisdiction.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Israel, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before starting formal proceedings, contact privacy@storygen.xyz so we can try to resolve the issue informally.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the pilot evolves. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated version number and effective date.
